where to put deciduous tree in dormant state
Does it matter where to put them? Is it ok to store them in a room without any direct sunlight until the weather warms up? Or they have to be under the sun even in dormant state? Or wherever?

Our winters are not cold enough to damage any tree in its dormant state. All of mine (Maples, Elms, Crepe Myrtle etc) Stay outside on their Growing benches all year. In winter they do not get much sunlight at all and it oes not bother them. If you put them in a room it might bring them back out of dormancy as it would probably be warmer than outside. and then you will have immature foliage to get damaged Ken

It's a combination of wamer temps and longer light that triggers them to break dormancy, so indoors where lights are on would confuse them.
