Where is Peter Adams?

I think Peter Adams writes some of the most infomative books on Bonsai that I have ever read. His out of print books bring top dollar, if they can be found at all. However I haven't heard of him giving any workshops or lectures in a while. Does anyone out there know what he's doing now?

Here is a more recent update on Peter.

I have not heard of him on the UK scene for some time... but others might know more. According to this, he resides in the Western U.S.A.

Regards,
Ian.

He sounds like a pretty "cool cat" Somebody should invite him over one day when we are all dressed up and being nice.... he would probably make a nice addition to "Team BonsaiTalk.com"

His books are excellent. That's a darned good question, where is he?

You can buy a few of his books, like Successful Bonsai Shaping, very inexpensively on half.com or ebay. Anyone looking for good ways to grow trunks and ways to think about styling, needs this book.

Peter Adams has a bonsai expert collum in the Bonsai Europe magazine for a few years now, where you can sent a photo of your tree and peter will give you advice on the future styling via his famous drawings. He also wright tree species articles for this same magazine.
Hope this helps a little,
Hans.

A little detective work reveals this.....

Perhaps Carl Bergstrom or someone else in that area (state) might be able to shed more light ?

Regards,
Ian.

Peter's Books are very good indeed. I enjoyed "Bonsai Design - Japanese Maples" very much, and is probably one of, if not the best indepth guide to growing them.

I've been looking out for the other Bonsai Design series of his books, but have been unsuccessful sourcing them at my local library. Its a shame that his books aren't republished, as some retail at over $250 on some sites, which is way out of most peoples price range. I've seen his book "Japanese Maples" sell over £90 on ebay.co.uk.

Try your local library if not, get saving those pennies

All the best,

Aaron

Peter Adams Workshop

I was told that Peter Adams was going to have two workshops at El Dorado Bonsai (due east of Sacramento, CA) sometime this summer - dates to follow. Has anyone out there taken a workshop from him? What did you get out of the class and his teaching style? I am nervous about taking my trees to someone other than the sensei I am used to.

Having just subscribed to Bonsai Europe this is the first time I have seen an article by him and I liked it.
