When to take nursery stock and pot it up???

Hey guys and Gals,

Seems to this beginner you guys really know your stuff! Here is my question...

I live in Upstate NY, Rochester area specificly, and have just bought a blue star juniper tree. It was nursery stock and was out side in the cold weather. Throughout the week the temps have ranged from 20 to 55 degrees. I have brought the tree inside and it is placed in a highly lit corner of a room with a lot of sun. I am on spring break and am egar to repot and train the tree. Could I do it now?? Should I wait a week?? If I do it now should I only repot it and then wait another month to train it? Any specific input would be helpfull.

Eager to prune and see what I get....

Jeff...

Hi Jeff,, First do you know you have a wonderful place for Bonsai in the Henrietta Area of Rochester. International Bonsai with the very Well known and respected William Valavanis?

As for this tree, it wants to live outside. It is an outside tree!!! My rule of thumb is do nothing to a new tree for a while it needs to get used to its new home (outside). A while does not mean a day or two...its more like a couple of weeks.

One of the most important things to learn, and there is a lot to learn, is to be patient. Do not rush into anything!!

Just my .02 cents

Oh me oh my. Put that poor tree outside. And yes, let it get used to its new home for awhile.
