When I water

Here's a poll to discuss what time of day we water, recognizing that sometimes it's governed more by necessity and opportunity than preference!

If you'd like you can explain WHY, below.

Regards,

Matt

I generally try to water early in the morning because the evaporation is less and the trees have more time to dry so the chances for disease is reduced .Mostly though I like being up early with my trees just walking ,watering and wondering.

I generally water in the a.m. when the trees need it. In that respect I would water in the afternoon as well if they are drying out. The trees let me know when they are in need of water.

It also depends on the size of the pot. The smaller ones dry out faster, so they would be h20'd 2x a day. Bigger ones not as much.

Good post.

Paul

My southern California watering routine:

Oct15 thru May15 every other day in Morning

May16 thru July 4 every day, Evening

June 5 thru Sept 15 twice a day

Sept 16 thru Oct 14 once a day evening

So I put the last option "hard to generalize"

I bet you guys are about the same, or am I off my chum?

Now that it's winter in Sydney I water 2 to three times a week, I spray every second day with a fine mist. In summer I have been told to water each day, dependingon the temperature.

I have the same problem I voted 6-10 AM because this is when I will water most often, tempratures are very high but the trees are still only asking for water once a day. But I water as required by my trees, any time of the day that they need it.

respectfully

I put evening because that has been working best. However, we hit this hot spell and it has been at least twice a day. One tree seems to need it three times a day (I know, I must have messed up the potting soil, too porus). So it is really hard to generalize.
