I stand and stare a lot

I would probably do more woodworking. I have just treated myself to a small lathe and that is a lot of fun.
My garden overall would also receive a bit more attention than it does now and the bonsai growbeds would make fine raised beds for vegetable growing. Mike

bonsai is not my hobby
|
There was this meeting of bonsai societes presidents or leaders in Germany. At the dinner table I realized that they spoke about tropical fish instead of bonsai.
They all seemed to know what they were talking about. Me too, btw. I asked 'now I want to know it, who of you has or had an aquarium?. Fifteen hands rose. One did not move but looked sort of embarrassed. Everbody stared at him. 'But I had a terrarium' he said. Hilarious laughter. Walter |

I would climb.
I used to do both, until my daughter was born. One hobby had to go. No contest! -Carl

Lol, Jon. My dad has had a 90 gallon fresh water aquarium, a 40 gallon salt water, and a 90 gallon coral reef. I have enjoyed helping him set up the tanks and stocking them with fish. That would probably be my hobby if I was able to save up the couple of thousand $$ to get a reef started. Suiseki would also be a big hobby for me. Technically it is not bonsai; in fact many people that talk on the suiseki gallery on IBC do not talk on the bonsai gallery.

I always loved fish and used to import, breed and sell tropical fish for a living in the early '80's. Had a breeding pair of Rams too, which I was very proud of at the time. I kept Koi as well at the time just for fun and started my bonsai hobby. Did a good bit of model making at the time.
Now I'm a professional portrait painter. I still wouldn't call myself an artist though. Seems to be a pattern developing here. Like shoe menders also seem to be good at cutting keys. |

I collected antique firearms. I had 75 weapons in my collection from the matchlock, wheelock, Snapance, flintlock etc.... I sold them to help put my daughters through college.... Best thing I ever did!!!
I am much happier with Bonsai!
