What with this?
Hi! This is a nursery tree, and I want to make it bonsai! What do you suggest me? Should I go with a typical chokkan, or something more "adventuorus"?
Regards! |

I think thats an alberta spruce (picea glauca?). I think chokkan is a better style for broadleaf trees, not so much for evergreens. I think that you should let it grow for a while before deciding what to do with it. As for spruces, pruning is best done in the autumn. It could make a nice informal upright, or perhaps sankan style.

Pretty sure it is a Scots Pine. I would like to see more details of the trunk and upper branches before I offer a suggestion.

HI, Aleksa..
You seem to have a good movement in the trunk.. (I would like to see a bit more of it also) Informal upright i would aim for!! you could drop that left hand branch down a bit and go with the flow of the trunk... try and get some more pics of a full view of the tree and trunk, take care Lance..

Ok, I'll put some pictures these days. This is Pinus Mugo. I think that moyogi would be the best...

There are more pictures.... First picture shows upper branches.... I know that it is difficult to give advice because the tree is too much like bush but just tell me what do you want to see and I'll take a picture!

It is most definately a Mugo Pine. Because of the nature of this tree and from the close up of the limbs I would consider cutting it back really hard. I would cut back every thing as long as there are some needles left on each branch. If you notice the rough looking things on the bark, these are places where you can expect to see some back budding. This should be done in the spring as the new buds start to expand and open out into needles. I know you are looking for styling advise but with this tree there are few good options right now. The best thing is going to be to regrow the tree in closer to the base thus the advise above.
