We're on the new server now. The backup brought us up to a point of about 2PM yesterday afternoon.

1) The first report is that it's

FAAAAAST.

I have pages refreshing in a blink now. That's quite an improvement.

2) They're also going to let us email our newsletter at a rate that's 10 times as fast as the prior host. So we can get it to you in a matter of hours.

3) On the downside it costs us about $30 a month, which is almost three times what we were paying on the cheap. But there's no way around it.

Settle in and let me know how you like the new place. It should be the same as the old with the exception of more snappy page load times, and, knock on wood, fewer errors!

I'll be turning on the voting again this evening if everything checks out.

Yes it is frightning fast. I am glad I made the decision to make the move.

I had a miserable weekend trying to repair the database every few hours and keep everything afloat. It's looking good at the moment, though!

Superb job.
I can honestly say I was having severe BT withdrawal symtoms during the outage. Just shows how valuable a meeting place this site is.

Hi all,

Ian I know your pain lol. I was having withdrawl too. Every time I went to connect, all I got was "Sorry the server is too busy at the moment blah blah blah".

Splendid job on getting the site back up Matt. I'm sure its a darn site faster than it was. I'm on a 4mb connection, but its totally jammed up with bit torrents at the moment so its like being back on 56K .

Anyhoo, just wanted to say many thanks and glad to be getting my daily fix again
