bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

If you MUST try it Eeiko, try it on something that YOU WANT TO ASSASSINATE!

Bad medicine around bonsai...

Pat's right. Use these only if you want to kill the tree. These 'once a year' weedkillers like pathclear and such are usually glycophosphate based systemics herbicides that are absorbed through the leaves will kill all plants. Some contain growth inhibitors to supress new growth too.

They say on the containers that they become inert on contact with soil, but that's not strictly true, and you don't have enough soil in a bonsai pot to give any margin for error.

Pull weeds by hand whilst they are still small. The roots come out without disturbing the soil and the job's done. Go round once a week when watering. It takes a few minutes.

yeah i guess so.................................

i wasnt game enough to try it anyways, since it kills plants...

however, i have noticed that if you make your soil a little bit more gravelly, its less chance of weed...

and if you put a layer of pebbles or grit in the pot...that pretty much deminishes the chances of weeds...
