watering ?s

I have been watering my plants when they ask for it. I check the soil for dampness often! My maple, which has a lush coating of moss on its surface seems to only need water every other day. When I do water it appears to drain well! It runs out of the holes at the bottom like it should. The tree also appears healthy.

I guess my question is, does anyone else have a tree which only asks for water every other day?

It all depends on the tree and the soil. More growth means more water, more leaves means more transpiration. Smallest soil particles mean less watering, bigger means more. How much water the plant needs changes with the environment, so the same plant may need more water on hot days, etc.

Anyway, the answer is yes. You are fine if your plant is healthy and growing.

Think Brent mentioned before, aim to have soil particles large enough that you have to water once a day, so fresh air gets pulled into the soil. Just something to aim for.
