Water

Distilled water is better for plants, right? Or is it the other way aroung? I know faucet water can kill hermit crabs, and that is the extent of my knowledge, but this is the wrong forum for that.
Thanks
justin

Hi Sheep, and welcome.

The only reason a hermit crab would die from tap water is if it came from the ocean, the ocean is 26% salt. Most people don't have ocean water hooked up to their home, I hope.

Water is basic to the Earth. It is simple H2O. Water is the same everywhere on Earth. The only difference being the amount of contaminates found naturaly in the water source. If you have highly minaralized, or contaminated water, it might be reasonable to use distilled or bottled water. Sometimes just putting a screw on charcoal filter cartridge on the hose is enough to make tap water OK for bonsai. I wouldn't stress too much if the source for your bonsai is the same source you have been drinking out of for the last year or two. If your bonsai die due to contaminates in the home water supply, then you have much larger problems to contend with.

Here's to clean water, Bonsai-al
