Walter is not just an incredible bonsai artist but an incredible person who, I think, has an awful lot to do with the friendly and inviting tone of this forum. Now, I don't want to insult Walter with calling him "nice", a term he reacts fiercely to, but whatever synonyms anybody can think of fit Walter to a tee. He is patient with the ignorant peasants like myself and really extends himself to share his knowledge with the rest of us. He comes as close to being a genuine friend to everyone on the forum as I suppose it's possible to be on this sort of a medium. I can think of no higher praise than this.

There are a number of pretty good bonsai artists that frequent this forum. Any number of them far above me. But I think most would agree that Walter is really special, not just as an artist but as a friend to the rest of us.

I would also like to extend thanks to Walter for his contributions of time and knowledge. He has always been constructive with sound reasoning given for any advice or opinion. Many examples of transforming raw material into world class bonsai have raised the level of the art shown on this forum. For those of us attempting to get a grip on the many facets of the art (technique, styling, pot selection, display, photography) he has given snapshots in time to show what is possible and shown what the rest of us should be aiming for.....Excellence! A balance of respect for tradition combined with a unique vision set his work apart.

With great Appreciation,

David

Thanks for all your help walter. When you came to our club to style some peoples trees I must say you did a great job at it. I thought you were one of the best people who visited. Of course you came before I found this website.

Although I've never had the pleasure of meeting Walter, I have had the pleasure of reading his threads and viewing the pictures of his bonsai here and at other sites including his own.

I too have been changed by his bonsai wizardry.

I have to add that his pictures from nature have helped a lot also.

Here's to Walter Pall.
