Volcano Trip

Hey everybody!!! Here, I'm starting an off topic thread about a trip I made to the mountains, well we hiked to summit 2 volcanoes in 2 days, which was a hike of about 40 miles, but it was really regarding, so I wanted to share some pics with you, excuse the quality of the pics, but my camera has not the capacity to take good pictures at all, it's a CMOS lens, so imagine, I would kill for a CCD hehehe... anyway, I hop you like it, the first one will be a panoramic of two volcanoes from the road they are on the left Atitlan volcano and Toliman volcano and the right one is San Pedro Volcano...

This two trees rise over the base of a cliff and I'm at the edge of that cliff of about 10 or 20 meters, so imagine how impressing they were, behind them you can see Santa Maria volcano

How about this with Santa Maria Volcano? (Notice, the cloud rising at the left side of Santa Maria was throwed by Santiaguito, an active volcano behind Santa Maria)

Well, in this pic you can see, at the very right San Pedro volcano, then the most conical is Atitlán Volcano, besides it, and darker is Tolimán Volcano, and behind Tolimán is Fuego volcano, and on the very left a part of Zunil Volcano, where I'm standing for this pic, I'm at the very edge of a 1000 meters Cliff!!!!!!!! Just Amazing...

Well, the last pics were taken from Zunil. We started hiking at 11AM from Fuentes Georginas, which are some amazing hot springs in Quetzaltenango in Guatemala, and we reached Zunil's Summit at 5PM after 6 hours of hiking and some rock climbing... that make about 15Km walking or 9 miles... Our backpacks were 15kg average, mine was more I believe (or so I felt ) well, after that you start walking down to a ridge that joins both volcanoes, this hike is maybe as long as the last one 9 miles more... There we camped and waited the next day to keep walking...

On Sunday, we started walking all the way to the top of Pecul Volcano, this is about 15 miles or so to the very top of the volcano...

Here is a pic of Zunil volcano from the path to Pecul's summit Notice they are far

Well, here is a pic, of an endangered tree, this tree the highest on the pic, is a pine-abet (I don't know how it's called) but it only grows in Guatemalan mountains, but because of it's nice shape and exquisit smell it's used for Christmas trees, it's fighted strongly but never stopped they are sold ilegally, and the shame is that this time is when they reproduce, so they take the trees and they take the seeds with them, so it's a huge problem... And it has been tried to reproduce them in other places and it's too hard to keep them alive, because of the rare combination of weather they like, because in Guatemalan mountains over the night you get temperatures below 32ºF way below, and in the day you can get temperatures over the 70ºF it's a pretty big range...

So here is the tree... (I tried to find seeds and try to reproduce them, but it was impossible, I couldn't find them, I really wanted to try them... I only found a small one but, MAN!!! They've got to grow there, I would have loved to collect it... But I love more to know that it will grow there)
