I'm in favour of having vendors at shows. I enjoy looking at what the different vendors have to offer and seeing if a bargain can be had

My club always has a vendor at our annual show. He sells variety of tools, publications, fertilizers, soils, chemicals, etc. It's a good service for our members and guests, and the club gets a rebate of his gross sales.
A good deal for all. Mike

Who are the vendors? In many cases they are us. There are a lot of vendors that support BonsaiTalk. Why should we deprive them of a venue for their livlihood, just because they have chosen to make a profession out of their obsession. I enjoy the opportunity to meet these people.
As far as selling us stuff. It isn't like giving drugs to a junkie... uh, it isn't, is it?

I thoroughly enjoy looking at what the vendors have at shows. I am able to find that perfect burl, replenish my supply of wire, or even purchase a tree that I just l just gotta have.
Because vendors expose us to the variety of things that one could use in this hobby, they serve a purpose beyond just make sales for themselves or the club they are hosted by. Often, I find talking to the vendors can be quite educational. Melisan |

all in favor
Going to shows for years I always looked forward to seeing what was for sale in the vendors area, always looking forward to seeing what was for sale.
One year I became one, yes I became a vendor, it was hard work to haul all the stuff there and then set it up and especially not quite knowing what to bring. Dealing with all the questions for two days, answering each and every one. Then at the end of the show breaking it all down and packing up what didn't sell, which really wasn't much, the fixtures all had to be broken down and loaded on the truck. Hauling it home and feeling like "I never want to do that again" but the next day when all the aches and pains were soothed I realized that it was all worth it. All the interested and interesting people I had spoken with and new friends I made had really made it worth while. I immediately started looking to next year. Yes vendors are the way to go at the bonsai shows. Hector
