Well, I just placed my bid on a tree. That was my first time bidding on BonsaiAuctions, and for some reason I had expected it to have proxy bidding. So, the extra six cents are not there because I am cheap. They have won me many auctions on ebay in the past.

Many thanks to Bob for all the work he has put into this.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike and his family. I know it has been a couple of months since he passed away, but my infrequent visits have not given me a chance to pay my respects until now. I am sure Mike is in a better place.

Charles you're giving away your secrets

Yes there IS proxy bidding on bonsaiAUCTIONS. And that extra .06 did win you first place in the current round of bidding.

For those who aren't familiar with proxy bidding, it is a convenience system that is automatically employed here (and on feEbay). You can place your maximum bid, at any time. As the auction progresses, if you are outbid, your bid will be increased, up to the limit of your maxbid, but just enough to beat the other guy's maxbid, or to match the reserve if there is one.

Charles here used an odd-ish maxbid $100.06 in the hope that it would outbid someone else's even-steven maxbid of $100.00, and that's exactly what happened.

You don't need to do anything special to take advantage of the proxy system. You can simply place your bid, and the system automatically takes care of the rest.

Regards,

Matt

Betcha Charles uses +$.08 from here on out
