Tropical Lover's - a new magazine!

Dear Forum members:

I have been very fortunate to have two articles, which are going to be published in the brand new magazine called Gulf Stream Journal. . To all you Tropical tree lovers here's a chance to find a lot of good information all in one place.

Below is a news release:

Best regards,
Carl L. Rosner
arteacher3725@yahoo.com

NEW:
A BONSAI MAGAZINE FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN BONSAI WITH TROPICAL AND SUB-TROPICAL TREES: “GULFSTREAM JOURNAL OF TROPICAL BONSAI.”
NEW:
A WEB SITE FOR THE SAME PEOPLE, PROVIDING BONSAI INFORMATION AND EARLY ACCESS TO THE MAGAZINE: HTTP://WWW.GULFSTREAMBONSAI.ORG.
To all who love bonsai, and love doing it all year long, and to those who have or want to have tree species they can work on all year long–this is for you.
For many years those of us who live south of Orlando, Florida have languished for lack of knowledge about the species that grow best in our year round warm weather. Having published a Florida magazine for the past four years, I have discovered, it is not only we, but also people everywhere who want this knowledge. Simply put, this is a magazine and web site about how to work with tropical and sub-tropical tree species as bonsai, and where to get them.
We think we can demonstrate clearly that tropical trees are worth the effort, and that they make outstanding bonsai every bit as good as or better than the hardwoods, pines and deciduous trees used throughout the world
The Gulfstream Bonsai Association was created to disseminate the knowledge gained by many people throughout Florida from over 30 years of using these species for bonsai. These people have made remarkable specimens, which we will demonstrate with the magazine and web site.
We are indebted to two ladies who pioneered this subject: Christine Rojas, with The “World Tropical Bonsai Forum,” 1989 through 1992, and Mary Miller with her “Bonsai With Tropicals,“ 1996 to about 1999. We hope that this magazine can be at least half as popular as those magazines were in their day.
The web site noted above is already available, although it is a long way from being completed. Additionally, the first issue of the magazine is ready to print and will be mailed about July 15 of this year. We have selected people, clubs and subscribers from around the country as prospective subscribers. They will receive a complementary copy of the first issue printed in color, and another group of people will receive the second issue in October printed in black and white.
Acquisition of the magazine will be by subscription only. (Distributors encouraged) Every issue will be posted on the web site for free access by anyone. Regular subscribers will receive four quarterly magazines, printed in black and white. Premium subscribers will receive four quarterly magazines printed in color. We have club or group rates as well as a student rate.
As a new enterprise, there are no subscribers–yet. Therefore, the first two issues will be sent speculatively to selected individuals. If you want to be one of the recipients, sign up for a subscription for 2008, before Jun 30, and be sure to get these first two, in 2007–free. Subscription information is available on the web site, or can be acquired by phone or Email. Receiving this email does not include a copy of the magazine. We need your address, and expressed interest. We hope to have credit card capability in a couple months. Notice will appear on the web site.

Phone: 561/432-1230

Carl:

Now here's a journal I'd be very much interested in subscribing to for obvious reasons. We "Texicans" get tired of reading about pine, larch, spruce and so on...
Thanks for the link!

I too am happy to see this come about as I missed those publications when they stopped.
This seems like it will be extremely popular here in Michigan and at Tellys Bonsai.

Thanks a bunch - will definitely be paying close attention! This is such a good idea and all us northerners will have something new to look at in the long, cold winters to help with our indoor 'babies'.

Bummer. It appears you don't take credit card ... nor send to foreign addresses. *sigh* Would be interested in more info about things I see out my window every day. Suppose I can read the download versions ...

JOKO:
Don't give up.. check the web site once in awhile, since the editor wrote that he is in the process of obtaining a credit card account. He already has "Paypal".
