Trident Maple forest
My friend CK came by this weekend and we did some stuff around the nursery. He wanted to build a trident maple forest so I thought we would start by replacing some dead trees that I had in one of my forest. Well when we tried to dig up a single trident from a seed bed this is what happened. They had grown together so much that we couldn't sparate them so we just lifted them all out. CK liked it so much that he didn't want me pulling it apart and so here it is, a "natural forest." We decided that it might look best on a slab. Of course CK thought I should give it to him.
These came from a bed that I had put weed barrier in and as you can see was very shallow. The seedlings are 3 years old. It is incredible the amout of roots tridents put out. By the way, CK had a good time this weekend at the nursery. It is always nice to have someone to talk to while working. Plus he is good help. Frank |

EGO,
Yes, but that's 30 some trees that are tied up in one pot. Just think how many 9 tree forests that I could make from this one forest. But I guess I am just in this for my health, right? That was a pretty quick reply what are you doing on this site, shouldn't you be working? F |

Back to the topic;
Frank, did you comb out the roots or jet stream them? And, help me out here, isn't it still a little early yet?
I know that we have had an unseasonably warm winter, and the dryness and wind seem to have taken a toll on some of my stuff. |

Well this is when I get started digging, so no it isn't too early. And I just sprayed water threw the roots, didn't have to use as much pressure as they were growing in sand and it comes off easier than field soil.
Claus, yes if you pay for 30 plus trees the forest is yours but the price of the trees have gone up since you left the nursery. F |
