Tree Identification
So, I'm currently on vacation in southeastern Florida (Delray beach) and I've seen two types of trees that Ive never seen before. Unfortunately, my laptop is not set up for my girlfriends digital camera so I wont be able to post pictures until later this week, but i'll try to describe them.
The First Is a very tall very straight tree. The branches coming out of the sides are all completely straight (perpendicular to the trunk), the same length and very short. The leaves look needle like and grow on the upper side of the outer half of the branch. Reminds me of many bald cypress bonsai I have seen, but have never seen a wild bald cypress, so wouldnt know if thats what it is. The second tree is best described as a tangled mess. The trunk extends about half of the trees height. Then the trunk turns to all branches which twist and turn in every direction. The trunk itself looks to be either completely covered in thick vines or is comprised of many trunks twisted and fused together. If there are any native floridians who could ID these trees for m and let me know how they do as bonsai, I would appreciate it. I should be able to provide pictures after this thursday. |

Yep your in my neighbor hood. The tangeld rooty ones are figs and the straight up pines are some sort of pine, not australian. The figs are the best for bonsai down here.
