Maybe the neighbors just like the tree. It's theirs, after all. They don't need a reason.

You've asked twice, and it's obvious they don't want to part with it. There's other material available.

BUT, if it keeps following you home they'll probably realize that the tree loves you more. Of course you should dutifully return it each time, but eventually I think they'll give in to the tree's desires for a new home.

Too bad you can't kidnap it, like that garden gnome, and take pictures of it all over the world. Send little notes back to the people telling them what a nice time it's having in your care.

Haha that was a good movie. I almost stopped watching it during the creepy pregnant time lapse...those french...

Maybe I'll go ask neighbors I know better to ask for me about the tree I like.
