Exclamation Thanksgiving: bonsaiTALK - busting out all over

The Thanksgiving holiday celebrated in the United States is actually older than the country itself. It's one of the traditions that we've adopted as the year closes: the opportunity to give thanks for all we've received, and express gratitude.

I would like to thank the membership of bonsaiTALK for continuing to make bonsaiTALK the best place on the Internet for fans of bonsai. You are truly the reason we're here.

I'd also like to thank our moderators and coordinators. (I've had a terrible flu for the past few days so I am in danger of leaving someone out, but I'll try) Moderators: Pootsie, Joanie, Carl, and Ian and FlyBri and the calendar coordinator midwestbonsai, and Will, who keeps the contests running smoothly.

I would like to thank our contributors who provide the financial backing that make this forum possible. I'll post a more updated list here tomorrow, but this includes both the corporate sponsors that have made contributions of time, prizes and money to support our endeavor and the individuals that make contributions to bonsaiTALK to support our hobby (I almost wrote, "habit!").

One of the artifacts of success is increased demand on our resources. This expresses itself in an increasing number of messages to manage, and greater demands on our moderating staff and the server.

In related news, just this morning I received a notification from our Internet service provider that we were outgrowing our hosting (again). It will be necessary for us to move from an shared server account that costs under $50 per month to one that is considerably more expensive.

I hope that you'll remember bonsaiTALK at this time of year and consider making a donation using the DONATE link at the top right corner of the green menu. There are instructions there for making donations by Paypal or check. The explanation there will lead you to the DONATE box right on our homepage at http://www.bonsaiTALK.com

SPECIAL THANKS TO IAN HOMER for the THANKSGIVING LOGO IMAGE!

Have a great holiday season, and enjoy the time with your relatives and friends. We truly have much to be thankful for.

Regards,

Matt Chroust

Well said Matt!

I am thankful to have a forum such as this to learn on, to share experiences on, and to pass these awful hours here at work on.

Thank you Matt, for continually adding features to this forum, increasing the usability and ease of use while welcoming all newcomers with open arms. I am indeed proud to be a member here.

Most of all, thanks for putting up with the likes of me.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Will

Must be that Flu talking... Get well soon, and thanks again for giving us bonsaiTALK! It just keeps getting better, IMHO.

Thank you, Matt, for your hard work and dedication to this site. For giving us a place to meet and discuss, bicker and complain, laugh and smile together. For bringing so many people, from many nations and cultures, together, you have our sincere gratitude.

I give thanks for each and every one of you out there, quiet or talkative, new or experienced.... those who give of their time, and those who learn and try. Every one of you serves a purpose here, you are all individual voices that together make a beautiful sound.

Well, most of the time.

Joanie

Hi All,

Yes, happy holidays to our American cousins, with sincere thanks to Matt and everyone else who just make this THE BEST BONSAI PLACE TO BE !

At times like this, together with the fast approaching Christmas and New Year periods, it's time to enjoy time with your Family, Trees and other things you hold dear.

Hopefully, like me, you see this part of the web as your "extended family" and you feel some "added value" to life - by being part of it.

for the ladies and handshakes for the guys !

Best wishes,
Ian.

Thanks to all who those who have made and continue to make this forum a very informative and pleasant environment in which to learn about bonsai and view other artist's work.

I wish this type of learning tool was around about 20 years ago when I first got started - maybe I would not have ended up killing so many trees....but on second thought, I am still killing trees on occasion

Thanks again.

Continued regards,
Tom Simonyi

You bet it was! Sorry for the oversight - I am operating at about 20 percent today and trying to avoid anything that involves
  • judgment
  • memory
  • alertness
  • insight
  • planning
  • visual acumen
  • and heavy machinery.
I think I am qualified for watching cartoons!

Regards,

Matt

Nasty old flu. Hope the daughter doesn't get it. You can make it up to Fly when your brain works better. Maybe give him a raise.

Get better soon!
