Re: Thailand

Moshe, not an answer but a question for you. I am going to be in the same two locations in Thailand next January (January 2003). If after your trip you find any 'can't miss location' for another Bonsai Lover, please let me know. I am interested!!!!Jay

Bonsai in Thailand

Sounds like a great trip. You will definitely want to visit "Thailand's Bonsai Capital - Khao Raeng district - Ratchaburi province 120 km South west of Bangkok."

There are some links and points of interest on the bonsai in asia website. You can get there from here:

http://www.memobug.com/cgi-bin/sfp/sfp.cgi?http://www.bonsai-in-asia.com/

and click on Thailand.

Please, please take some pictures and share them if you can!

Regards,

Matt

Re: Thailand

Thanks everybody,

Matt,
On my trip to Thailand Last May (2001), I had visited "Thailand's Bonsai Capital".
I had learned about it on the bonsai in Asia website, which I regret to say has very old info. and was not updated since.
This trip I'll have with me a digital camera and I will be glad to share some pictures with you
For now, I attach a picture of one of my Olives.

Jay,
I will be glad to share all the "can't miss location" with you.

Shalom,
Moshe.

Re: Thailand

Hi Carmi,

Looks like with the new camera, you will be well prepared for the trip. I was curious what the power specs are for Thailand and found this website

"Power in the socket is approximately 220 V & 50 Hz, flat plugs are used (you'll need an adapter). "

http://www.vipphuket.com/eng-thailand/phuket-island-services/travel-information/

But maybe you're using similar power specs in your country??

Regards,

Matt

Re: Thailand

Hi Matt,
Thanks a lot, in my country, Israel; we are using the same power specs.
By the way it's my eighth visit to Thailand.
Shalom,
Moshe.

Re: Thailand

Dear Carmi,
Do you specialize in the Olive. I'm curious about what other species you can grow well in your area. I think my climate is aboout the same as yours. I'm in Southern California. We get aabout mid 30's F as our lowest temps. in winter. Olive grows like mad here.

Re: Thailand

Hi Bonsainut,
I am not specializing in the Olive.
Israel is one of the native countries of the Olive, There are very old trees growing here some of them over few hundreds years old few of them over thousand years old!
I have also the following trees although I am not doing very well with the Pinus.
Olive, Citrus trees, Amygdalus communis, Pinus halepensis, Ceratonia siliqua, Punica granatum, Crataegus azarolus, and few more which are not endemic to Israel.
Shalom,
Moshe.

Hi,
Due to the political situation in Israel, I have to postpone my trip to Thailand.
