Tea Ceremony

I have only been able to peek into BonsaiTalk every now and then this season - just enough to keep tabs on everyone in my bonsai family.

This is an especially busy season because my team has once again made it to the state final match - Souhegan Girls' Volleyball

A few weeks ago I was treated to a small tea ceremony by Kenji Miyata before he left for the bonsai of the west coast and it was such a spirtual moment that I passed on the feeling of the ceremony to my girls.

Now the team wants to have a "tea party" in my bonsai gallery before the big championship game of the season. How cool is that?

Candy,

Very cool!

Not many people realize the huge effect that the tea cermony and the woman in Japan had on display in Tokonomas, not to mention the art of Kusamono and Suiseki.

Sounds nice Candy.
I can see a collection of tea bowls starting now.

My bonsai teacher, who also did pottery in the winter, used to have a big invitational spring workshop/gathering every year. One year he had a different tea bowl for each person, bisqued, and some bowls of glazes. Everyone got to glaze their bowl how they wanted then he fired them. Real nice. Still on display in my home after about 18 years.

BTW, after speaking with you at WBC I CAN'T IMAGINE you SHOUTING instructions to a team of any kind
My sister-in-law coached a girls volletball team at school for years and they also did pretty well. Now HER ...I can imaging yelling!

It sound like Kenji had a good send off. I am looking foward to having Kenji Miyata here in the central valley of California. He does great work.
