bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Taking Pictures at a Show?

Yesterday and today, the San Diego Bonsai Club is holding their show. It's my first time going to a show, and it was so exciting I could hardly contain myself! And in my enthusiasm, I took a picture of every single tree in the show...some twice! None of the trees are marked with the owners name, and some don't have the species name. I also took pictures of the seminars, selling tables, and events.

What is the courteous way to use these pictures on the forum, since I cannot say who owns the tree, and sometimes what the species is? Should I make a gallery page for the trees, putting in the known information, and then just post the event/seminar pictures on a thread?

It was also hard for me as a beginner to know which accent plants and stones were part of a display, and which were not, or belonged to an adjacent tree. In that case, should I crop the photo just to show the tree, so as not to make it appear that someone put in a display in a certain way when it may not have been so?

Thank you for suggestions, I really want to share but don't want to do anything incorrectly...

Hi Joanie,

You could just post the pictures here on the Forum. Most of us will be able to tell the Genus and Species.

There are galleries for specific club shows, too.
