Joe Mc,

See if you photoediting program has a "Save for the Web" feature or just do what Treebeard suggested.

This image is only 5k.

After reading the new info here I went back and checked again.
It turns out the Canon software does have a resizer when saving, although it is not as user friendly as the one Treebeard posted. It has the file size slider, but does not tell you the image size, so I have to save then check the image properties to see the new file size.
