Swamp Photos

Hello Everyone,

Here a few more photos from the cypress swamps of south Louisiana. I've been taking a lot of photos of different cypress growth habits with an eye toward the styling of stock I have in development. I hope you enjoy them.

Best Regards,

David

Beautiful David!

Is that a crane or huron in the second pic? That has to be my favorite of the bunch, all the makings of a good scroll.

Cool pictures David. I can almost feel the mosquitoes biting when I look at them.

Any chance of using those pictures is a lesson plan I am putting together on forest plantings.

Nice pics David.
This last weekend I was watching the movie "Southern Comfort" on HBO or Showtime about a bunch of national guardsmen who mix it up in the swamps with some Cajun poachers. Filmed totally in the swamps. Not a spectacular movie, for sure, but the trees were magnificent.
Regards,
Dale

Will,,,,Carls's recent post on display has got me thinking along the lines of using subdued photos as compliments in a display. It's something to consider while out doing photography. (That's a great blue heron)

Ron,,,Please feel free to use anything I post in your teaching. Also, I got the fine pair of shears in the mail today. thanks a million. They're better than anything I've been using.

Dale,,,,Terrible movie, wonderful scenery. That was filmed not far from where I grew up.

Alasdair,,,thanks for the kind words. I've recently picked up the camera after quite a few years and it's got the juices flowing again.

Here's one more for Ron. A nice grouping for a forest.

Regards,

David

Hi David,

Interesting idea about using photos to complement display. Black and white might be particularly nice. Not only because it's subdued; with black and white you are not trying to exactly reproduce a scene per se (in that you drop the colors), but rather to bring out aesthetic elements of a scene.

Best regards,
Carl
