Straying from the Path
Ok, this is my first post as a member of the forum ; )
Can anyone tell me if there are cultivars of moss that are other colors besides green? I want to create something I've never seen before. I was thinking of using trees like boug, calistimone, or manchu maple. Something striking and with colors that defy the common color schme of a sakie/forest. I think a forest group with completely irradescent bougs and some freaky color of moss like blue, or something would have a stunning effect, like something out of a Lewis Carrol book.

Re: Straying from the Path
Sounds like an intrigueing idea. I don't think there are any blue mosses. How bout this though, a carpet of striking blue lobelia or a carpet of moss rose (portulaca)? There are some ground covers that hug the ground and have small blue or white flowers all year. Some of the hot pink or purple ice plant might be interesting. Check out the Nick Lenz web site this might be right up his alley.
Best regards, Bonsaial
