ChrisM bonsaiTALK Master Chief Join Date: Jan-2004 Location: norton, massachusetts Country: usa USDA Zone: 6 AHS Heat Zone: 4 Posts: 1,155	spring work on confused tree? i have a chinese elm that is also confused by the weather and beginning to show buds, some breaking. the tree is otherwise healthy and is now indoors for the remainder of the winter. is now a good time to do a thread graft? i have the perfect donor in the perfect place, with budding started but not open (optimal conditions if i remember correctly), so i want to do the work this weekend. anybody think of a reason not too? chris __________________ A bonsai is like a good marriage.You commit, for better or for worse, till death do you part. Spring has sprung here in Southern California. Heres a pic of a vine maple. It is leafing out.

I did a graft in November on a juniper and it is doing nicely. I think the 10 month growing season out here has a lot to do with it.
