Huh? spring work on confused tree?

i have a chinese elm that is also confused by the weather and beginning to show buds, some breaking. the tree is otherwise healthy and is now indoors for the remainder of the winter. is now a good time to do a thread graft? i have the perfect donor in the perfect place, with budding started but not open (optimal conditions if i remember correctly), so i want to do the work this weekend. anybody think of a reason not too?

Now sounds good, because branch diameter should be increasing rapidly, will fill it in faster.

I did my spring work yesterday . . . my tree will be kept indoors for the rest of winter though. I would think that if you put yours back outside after working on it, you may lose it.

no intention of putting this one outside til spring, don't want to take the risk.

Spring has sprung here in Southern California. Heres a pic of a vine maple. It is leafing out.

I did a graft in November on a juniper and it is doing nicely. I think the 10 month growing season out here has a lot to do with it.

Peace
Bob
