Spring is here, but not my Chinese elm

No sign of leaf or bud break on my Chinese elm. Anyone in zone 6, NJ have this same reaction from their elm?

i have a corkbark chinese elm that's got fullsized leafs now. also 2 zelkova that have about 25% foliage out. don't condemn them just yet though, i've seen some trees that don't start pushing til mid may (granted they were in a bit of shock).

Chinese elm (cork bark) situated outside, is just showing small leaves now in Zone 8 UK.

I wouldn't be worried unless you have other suspicions.

The buds on my chinese elm are only just begining to swell. A few buds decided to break early and were hit by a frost, making me worried. But she's fine now. I just left her alone and kept an eye on the weather.

Will keep an eye on it. I've only had it for 6 months and it stayed buried in its pot all winter.

tb2776,
Hi, I'm over in Doylestown, PA about an hour away from you. My Chinese Elm was the last to break bud and only started a week ago. The buds were very small and didn't seem to show swelling until the leaves started opening.
If you are very concerned try the scratch test, then wait.

Central Maryland here, reporting that my largest chinese elm (2" diameter trunk) has unusually juvenile leaves at this point, and is lagging the rest of the crop except for one beech and one hornbeam. But there are leaves and with continued warm weather and lengthening days I am confident that all is well, albeit seemingly somewhat delayed.

My C. Elm has been fully greened out for 10 days or more...

I'm in Southern NJ and my C. Elm is covered with leaves. This Shohin is a root I cut off another Elm last year and have been having fun developing it.

I, also, have two cuttings that are just showing leaves, and I am baby-sitting a neighbor's C. elm, and it still hasn't shown one swelling bud?

So, you can read that I have a smorgasboord of developments... Hang in there and don't give up!
