Some Collected Larix Shorties

A couple weekends ago, members of our club went out and collected some Larix laricina. A total of about 30 trees were pulled. I personally took about a dozen. Most went in to the ground to fatten up and help ensure transition.

Here are some of the trees that I left in growing baskets and boxes. I am only posting the ones that I think had good potential.

Feel free to comment or give suggestions.

This first one is in a 13 inch pond basket. A nice fat stump, with some options. I will introduce taper into the form next year.

Paul

another one, this one actually was growing upwards, but I planted it at this angle in the basket. I have a lot of options with this one.....what do you see?

another view......it would seem that this would be a good candidate for mother/daughter... I didnt like the lack of taper int he main trunk, I plan on gettin rid of alot of that trunk, how much, depends on time, and what I see when I stare at it for awhile.....

Whoooa, you have many trees to play with and many hours of fun. After taking a quick peek at them, i saw that you should trunk chop some of them to induce taper. i wish i could give you some virtuals but it would be useless bcos you would still have to cut. Good luck
