Like Rockm said, round-up works. Cut the tall culms to the ground , spray the leaves of the culms you can reach with round-up. Kick over all thick emerging shoots.
Some bamboo nurseries only carry clumping bamboo, it's a good thing. http://www.bamboonursery.com/
