You have my sympathy, but at this point you do not have my understanding ...

What the hjork are you talking about? Something to do with spam in the PM system here?

And by slow site you mean this one? Sometimes the pipe gets clogged (over 9000 members) but usually for me hitting refresh once or twice brings it all back in line. Sometimes it takes a bit longer.

Sometimes the site is slow, maybe the server is doing some work or something like that. It only lasts an hour or two and then everything is fine again. I asked Matt about it once, and his answer was rather poetic. He said that "the internert is like the ocean, it ebbs and flows" or words to that effect. Sometimes the tide is against us, it's true, and we struggle to make headway against the pull of receding water. Sometimes the flow is with us, and our trip is effortless. Life, too, ebbs and flows.

As to the private messages, if you received something through bonsaiTALK, please let us know and we'll deal with it. If it was just an email, well, unfortunately that is the price we pay for a more open and accessible society. With the freedom of the open sea (if I may take the metaphor further) comes the flotsam of such unwanted and wasteful trash. If only those people would channel their energies into more useful enterprises!! Tell us something, make something, change something. But they don't, and so we must take a little more of our own time to remove the trash as it floats across our bow.

Anyway, Nigel, your words of wisdom aren't really lost. They are just positive energy that you will direct toward something else today.

WOW, that's hard Lady,

That's the one, and me, I've never heard of it before, my email programme scans out everything that is in anyway related to scam, that's why I may have appeared to be a tad upset....

As to the slowness of the site, never happened to me before and there I was thinking that some fool had gotten into my computer, so spent quite some time using all three of my scan checkers to find out what was wrong....that didn't help, all was/is OK, so if I've upset you or anyone else I must play my pardons hand and ask for forgiveness, sincerely.

Regards,
Nigel

When you have experienced the frustration of trying to work within the site when it is slow, then you understand. No, it wasn't your computer.. and if it happens again, you'll know. Have a nice cuppa tea or sit down with a good bonsai book for a while. Eventually the site comes back as good as ever!!

For anyone else who received that spam in their box, sorry, there isn't anything we can do except ban the spammer the minute we are told. Looks like they didn't spam the moderators! We take quite a bit of spam off this site within minutes of it hitting the forum, before most of you ever see it. While we can't be on all the time, for those of you who may not have noticed, the moderators are in different time zones so for the most part there is one of us on, or soon to be on, all the time.

Nigel, no apology necessary.

Joanie,

Will be taking pics of that glorious Malus tomorrow, it is now almost totally smothered with ravishing, large, pink, five petalled flowers.

Thank you for your words re scam etc, alas my time is not mine own, and my trees are such demanding creatures [being all blokes][yep even the fruiting ones], new growth is bursting out quicker than I can catch up with my repottings.

Monday morning, gonna be a great day, recieving several small shohins, two tiny Ginkgos, one Malus micromalus, one Zelkova nire [with aged trunk], two very small Larix kaempferi [both Northern Holland yamadoris], and lastly a seven trunked, rare, Korean trident maple [returning home, at last, after a year away at a bonsai holiday home that I know].

Regards,
Nigel

Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the Malus!! And Monday will be an exciting day for you. Let us know about your new treasures! I have a dwarf gingko that is just beginning to bud out, and would love to see pictures of more of them. The leaves are very tiny, the size of a thumbnail, are yours like that?

Nope, all I do is try to censor the members and squash any constructive discussion of bonsai art and technique.

Are mods supposed to delete spam, too

double winky-face,

My father is a retired bank executive. He spent his whole working life at one bank, starting out as an errand boy. He said the Nigerian thing was going on 40+ years ago. They had to deal with it occasionally.
