Shrivelled Trunk (Ficus Retusa)

I went away for 4 days. I watered all my plants and trees that needed it, as I normally would before I left. When I got home last night I noticed some yellowed leaves on one of my Ficus retusa's.When I started checking the tree closer I noticed the trunk looks like a prune on one side! The trunk is still hard even in that area. Anyone experience this or know the cause? I have never had this happen before.I am sure this was not like this before I left.

Sounds to me like one side of the tree has received a blast of cold air. Mind you it is hard to tell without seing the tree so this is just a guess.
Is the damaged area facing a window or air vent.

Trav,

Your ficus experienced a trauma of some sort -- most likely very low temperatures. Would that be likely in your area this time of year?

The only thing it has experienced out of it's norm is me lowering the temp. in the house from 71 f to 69 f for 4 days. I would not think that is drastic. Last night when I got home I checked the trunk and it is softening.I have not done anything to it yet. I am afraid to move it. I am going to let it dry out a bit more than I normally would before watering.
