I repot my shimpakus the same time I do most of my others, late winter to early spring keeping an eye on the weather for freezes and moving them to an unheated garage until the cold spell moves on. You'll need to detrermine which months those are for your area.

That being said I wouldn't repot now with winter coming to your area. If the trees need it real bad I would just move them to a bigger container without disturbing the roots until the proper time comes.

Ditto to what Thomas said. You can slip pot them into a larger pot if you don't disturb the roots, any time of year. Then, come spring, you can do a full repot and root prune into the dish of your choice.

Fox7591, so how're your trees doing? Not too late to fully repot the juniper or cypress if you haven't already. I've done both within last couple weeks and have a couple more I hope to do within the next couple weeks. My favourite cypress species and overall, from Tak I assume? Are you in any local clubs?

Cheers.

hey Happy Gilmore, my trees are doing pretty good i was able to check how the roots were doing on one of them because a rabit pulled it right out of the pot, reall healthy roots and even though it was uprooted it didnt do much damage to the tree.

believe it or not i belong to the BC Bonsai club are you a part of it?? and i buy alot from Tak at Japan Bonsai. he has some good stuff
