Server Intermittency

We have a report from the I.S. folks that the server has experienced some sluggishness over the past couple days due to so called "Denial of Service" attacks. This basically involves some or several someones hammering away at the server requesting pages and so forth.

It's usually unrelated to our forum - just somebody trying to get something to break.

This is supposed to be corrected now, but if you create a very long post you might want to save it in your notepad. In Internet explorer you can do that before you click SUBMIT on a new message by doing this:
  1. right-click in the text entry area and choose SELECT ALL
  2. right-click again and choose COPY. This will store the text in your notepad.
  3. Later, you can recover the text with a right-click+PASTE
Regards,

Matt

Is this Denial Of Service still a problem?

I am having huge problems connecting to bonsaiTALK, firefox keeps saying "the connection was refused" for up to 6 hours at a time every couple of days.

Regards,

Chris.

Matt,

I can connect OK - but certainly seems to be a lot slower loading of late, both at work and at home.
It is the same at many times of the day, so I dont think it is dependent on "web traffic", so it seems to point to delays on the server still.

Hope this helps,

Ian.

Maybe Fire Fox is the problem, I have had no issues getting into or posting to this site, of course I am not here as long at a time as some of you.

I only got back on yesterday after a couple of days of not being able to get on to bonsaitalk or bonsaichat.org, everywhere like ebay worked fine, puzzling

The next time you can't connect - could you try this for me.

Go to http://www.skweezer.net and type "bonsaitalk.com" (no quotes) into the box at the top of the screen. Skweezer is a PDA connection service that reformats web pages for display. The point is - it will try to connect by a different path than you. That will try a different route. You can tell me if it comes back with a reformatted page (it will look weird, but it will tell us if the server is up) or a message saying bonsaiTALK could not be found.

Thanks.

Regards,

Matt
