Hi Ian ,
yes thats the one!
It is a very nice bonsai with beautyful placed branches!
But it always make me a little sad to see quality bonsai sold in this manor, it is a bid disrespectfull to the artist i think!
But maybe that is just me!

Hi Hans and Ian,

I personally feel that ebay has it's place in Bonsai. That place is more with less developed stock, or tools, books or supplies.

Any tree worth this much (Note- I am not saying it is worth this much) needs to be seen in person. Two demensional views, no matter how many can not show a three demensional tree.

I feel that one of a kind pots also fall into the same category.

Also, can/should we believe this tree is as old as stated?

Jay

Lovely tree Hans!

Did you folks check out his other items? I know Redpine would love that flat top BC that Tim is selling.

All the best,

Aaron

Someone is saying it in a way that counts.

If I had that kind of money,I'd pay that much for it.Ofcourse I'd have to let an expert care for it in a climate it would grow in.

Nice tree and it seems a reputable seller.

Good Point Jay,

In fact, I am about to re-do the Walsall pages to reflect the larger range of Shohin Pots... and others.... all for under $50. These post easily anywhere in the world.

There is certainly reluctance to buy from pictures, pots that retail above say $100 - $150. We are therefore changing things at the higher end to reflect "what" can be done and at what price. These will then be available at various distributors across Europe to feel and touch before making your choice.

There is still a major problem in getting anything of size and weight over to you guys in the states... so if anyone is in the International freight market... by all means send me a PM.

If only one of the International Air carriers (FedEx - DHL etc...) took the brave step to offer a 10 day service rather than overnight or within 48 hours..... I think a whole new demand would be created and prices would fall to sensible levels. However, that would still not remove the "must see" aspect, but might make it easier for a small volume manufacturer to get product out to retailers at a commercially viable rate.

Even a timber crate packed with say 100 pots and shipped in around 8 weeks would work out at $10 per pot... and with the exchange rate... it makes the larger sizes costly.

No easy solution

Regards,
Ian.

I will respectfully disagree here . . . I think that the fact that the bids go so high is in fact a sort of testament to the artist . . . a sort of praise I guess. If I were the creator of such a tree, I would be quite honored (can't really think of a better word than "honored") that somebody, somewhere is willing to pay $$$$$ for something that I created. My thoughts anyways . . .

Also, I think this is a beautiful tree, one that I would be very proud to own in my collection . . . but I like the one behind it better!

Yes, looks like some other nice trees there... but all the pictures are taken at night with what appears to be flash/spotlights.

At that price, why not set up a good "studio" shoot - or at least something a bit better against a plain background ?

The one where someone is holding it, is good merely for the sense of size.

Regards,
Ian.
