Hey Mushashi,
I would like to see some pictures of your trees in a couple of months when they flower (or any other time). I have a big 'Kozan'. It seems very vigorous, a very good grower. I need to work up my courage and actually do something with it, though.
I wouldn't use any cat litter in any of my trees.
Take care,
zube

Very nice tree zube! I will definitely try to get some pix om my satsukis when they start blooming. Right now some are a little bare because they were thinned out before the winteer to allow for more growth.

Things are starting to kick in now, though. So, if my digital camera won't be too tempermental and things start perking up, I will put up a few pix for you.

Your tree is gorgeous! and yea, I think I would feel kinda funny about cat litter! ha!

regards....

Wink cat litter for azalea, definite no no

tasty kozan zube,

if you want drainage for your azalea you need some coarse sand or some lava rock maybe but dont forget the all important humus, i can't go into detail at the moment but cat litter is usually too alkaline, you need a ph of about 5 or 6 in the acid department.

cat litter

Actually I have heard of using cat litter, zube. http://www.bonsai4me.com has advice on that subject. It seems to me though, from what i read, that cat litter is different in the UK and Australia than it is here.
