San Diego Japanese Friendship Garden

I was at a conference in San Diego last week and my wife and I had the opportunity to go to the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Unfortunately we missed the San Diego Bonsai Club Exposition by a few days but were able to see some of their trees on display at the Friendship Garden. Here are a few pictures. I don't know anything about the individual trees but had a wonderful time viewing them.

Thanks for sharing. I frequently go to San Diego for conferences, but I haven't visited the friendship gardens. I won't miss it next time!

The Friendship Garden is under the care of Fred Miyahara, one of the San Diego Bonsai Club members. And they are working on plantings all down the slopes, which will increase the size of the garden nicely! The club also holds bonsai classes for children there once a month, and there are rotating displays of Japanese art... pottery, kimonos, etc. as well as a meditation garden.
