Root pruning chemicals
I have read in a plant book that CuOH root prunes plants. By putting a layer of CuOH in the internal part of the pot will prune the roots that make contact with it. The question is:
Is this good as manual root pruning?

Re: Root pruning chemicals
Putting root pruning chemicals into your bonsai pot sounds like a good way to kill your bonsai. Generally speaking you don't want to inhibit the growth of roots just prune them back when they become over grown.

I understand that prospectors used to look around areas where the conifers were naturally stunted to find copper ore.
Heavy metals in high concentration are toxic and do impede root growth. Rather than poison your soil, and the environment, I think you'd be better off with a trusty pair of root shears. Much of the copper would probably wash right through in the first couple waterings. Regards, Matt
