Question Root over rock- Stokes Yaupon Holly

I'm fairly new to Bonsai and Bonsai Talk. Hello.
Members here know what they're talking about and reading past posts have helped me a great deal.
I recently planted a yaupon holly in root over rock style. I probably should've asked first, but have any of you heard/seen this done before with this plant?
The roots looked so tempting I had to try this style. I will post pics at a later date.
Any thoughts/insight/advice will help and be appreciated.
Thank you.

I have not seen Yaupons used in this style, that said, a picture is worth a thousand words. If you got a nice thick trunk base, with cascading roots sliding down over the edges of the rock, and the trunk(s) taper nicely into the canopy, I would think you have a real winner.

thanks

I haven't seen one either. Just curious if others have.
I didn't mean to come of as rude in my last post. If any offense was taken I am sorry. I was hoping for more replies is all.
Thank you.

It would help if you provide your regional location. Yaupon isn't frost hardy. If you're trying to grow root over rock indoors, it will take quite a while. Root over rock is best attained by planting the tree and rock in the ground or a larger deep container for a number of years, allowing the roots and top maximum unrestrained growth.

...

Of course I am not trying to grow a bonsai indoors.
The tree already had a lot of thick surface roots.
Trunk, braching and movement look nice.
It has been in a large pot with the rock for nearly a month now and is growing fine. I have not noticed any problems at all.
I should be posting a pic soon, not too much longer.
Thanks.

Here's a pic of the Holly...finally.
This was taken BEFORE the root over rock planting. It looks pretty much the same. Now with a rock under it and in a bigger/deeper pot. There are smaller roots (other than those shown) under the surface and on the back.
I have more prunning and shaping to do. Along with patience and waiting.
This gives an idea anyhow.
Thanks.

Nice tree. I'm wondering if the roots have already matured to such a degree that it might be difficult to make a convincing "cling" to the rock. If root-over-rock style doesn't work out, you might consider simply exposed roots.
