REVIEW: Hosta 'Medusa'

Hosta ‘Medusa’
Purchased from: Balihai Nursery, Northern Ireland
Purchase Type: Bare root
Cost: $8.00
Color: Medio-variegated
Size: Dwarf (6"ht x 15"w)
Habit: Mounding
Bloom: Lavender
Ease of Cultivation: Very Easy
Uses: Kusamono

A mini Hosta with shiny ivory-white to yellow leaves surrounded by an emerald-green border. The leaves are very long and twist slightly like snakes, hence the name. The leafs have rippled edges and the plant will get 15” scape's of purple flowers in early summer. Responds well to small containers and the growth rate is fast.

Pictures below is of a 'Medusa' recently received and potted within the last couple of months. I found that it started growing almost as soon as it got potted, foliage quickly formed and grew very fast. A side by side comparison with a Hosta 'Bitsy Gold' both potted at the same time, showed that this truly is a prolific grower with lusher, fuller growth in a shorter period of time.

That's a very nice dwarf hosta! Was it difficult to get through the Feds?

Cheers,
Jim

Not at all, in fact the nursery took care of it all on their end.
