Rainny days stink

Been raining here for the past couple of days. Same goes for much of the East Coast. Bummer

I got a bit bored and started on a few trees. Got 5 trimmed and potted. Three black olives and 2 rain trees.

So what does everybody else do to escape the boredom of a rainy day.

this is it. Been raining here for weeks now. I can't really recall what sunshine is, other than a nice memory.

I feel better now ;o)
Early last year (or maybe the year before) we came out of a drough that lasted 5 1/2 years. Mind you it did rain a few times during those 5 1/2 years just no where near enough. But what the heck I did get a pretty good tan during that time )

This is our 1st day of rain on the East coast for weeks !
We're not on a hose pipe ban like they are down in the south of the UK but if we don't get much rain, then it's going to happen.
I take my dog out in the rain, she prefers it a bit cold but when we get back, I have to wash her down a bit in the garden because the paths are filthy through lack of rain, so when we do get ,there's not enough to wash off the paths.
Where I live the water is hard, so I don't water my trees with tap water.
But apart from that I like the rain ( purely selfishly for my trees )
So on a rainy day I scrub the dog, do ironing & keep look round at things to do on Pc

Seeing that it is raining quite often here, I came up with a lot of things to do:
  • Train the new defoliation assistant (or simply play with her)
  • Read up more about the trees I grow
  • Try to locate nurseries with Satsukis
  • Check the stratifying seeds for germination
  • Update the tree inventory
  • Read old posts on BT
  • Celebrate for the good, free water the trees receive
  • Plan what I will do when the water finally stops falling
  • Try to think of a setup that would protect the trees from so much water
  • Plan to move to Australia or somewhere dry

Well, what probably looks rather ridiculous to my neighbors, I collect the rainwater in old milk jugs from the downspouts because we have hard water in the hose and soft water from the sink (a lose, lose). I don't mind the rain, though; it's much better than the 4ish months of snow I get when I can't do hardly anything at all.

Or you could do my rainy day favorite: watch The Holy Grail (Monty Python), Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part I, and any of the other oldies but goodies.

I hate it. This year was pretty bad because when it was crunch time for bonsai, meaning I had to repot many of them, it was raining for 2-3 weeks, not always but enough to keep me from working.

Since then, we had sun almost all the time, except for some minor storm lasting maximum 30 mins.

What I do during that time, I look outside and read or loose my time on the internet. I find rain calm.

Regards,

Patrick

Awww, 2 days of rain? how do you stand it?
I love the rain, ( I'd better ) No standing water no matter how much it rains so that helps.
What do I do? Put on raingear.
