Quick Easy Pinus Pinea Question

Is it too late to repot a pinus pinea in Berkeley Ca, zone 9b-10a heat zone 4?
Ive read all the threads. The tree has all juvenile foliage. Lots of back budding. Its been in bad soil(bad draining, bad soil constituents i.e. peat moss, generic potting soil,no grit)since jan 04. Healthy up top. 1 inch new spring gowth on a 21/2 foot tree. roughly 12x8x4in pot. sorry, no pic. Id really apprecite any help. Thanks

I think, I think that it would be okay to repot now as you described the situation. Good luck

hey, thanks for the response. its tough to get any for this kind of tree. since i got one im gonna press my luck. if i repot now is it acceptable to pinch out some growing tips at the same time? no hard pruning, just some pinching. thanks again.
p.s. i plan to do some moderate to heavy root work upon its replanting. thanks

If it were mine I'd clean old needles off and stop. I use a toothbrush on old inside needles (juvenile) they fall right off. When growth restarts after potting resume pinching later in summer. Good luck Ra man. Top raman...

sorry
