A Question For Matt Or Any One Else Who Can Answer

A couple of weeks ago I posted on the subject of the Importance of a good Judge, and I said I would post back with pictures of the show I was attending that weekend (I have decided not to say which trees came where as I feel it is not right for me to do so, but took a range of pictures of both good and bad bonsai), however, having taken these photos and prepared them for posting the please note section at the bottom of the post new thread page has got me confused!

My pictures are not copyrighted as i took them, but the bonsai that i took did not belong to me (apart from 2) and i could not get permission off the people who owned the bonsai as they were not around/ I did not know who owned what. However, the trees were on public display for any one to see and take photos of. Just wondering where I stand before I post the images.

Cheers Jonny.

Jonny,

Post your pictures. They're your pictures and you own the copyrights to those images. If photgraphy was not explicitly forbidden, there is no legal or ethical bar to your taking the picures or publishing them where you like.

Do not, however, apply any names to the trees depicted in your images. That is something that one generally asks for permission to do.

Kind regards,
