Question About Acidic Water

Hi. I'm a bonsai newb. I got my japanese maple about a month ago and it seems to be doing ok. However, I just found out today that japanese maples like acidic soil and acidic water. Well, water in my area is alkaline and I was wondering if there was any way to make water acidic. I thought I read somewhere that I could add lime or something like that to make water acidic but not sure. If anybody knows anything on this subject, plz help me!!!!

Hi, welcome! Adding lime will do the opposite of what you want. Just water with what you have, and fertilize with Miracid during the growing season. Trust me you don't want acid water!

Good luck, /|\ Bonsai-al

FYI - Miracid is known as "Miracle-Gro for Acid Loving Plants" as part of some confusing marketing campaign.

Regards,

Matt
