Yes, new thread would be nice. Turns out I may be in northern California in October, and can block some time to come south as needed. If we are slow back at the office I can secure one of our Sony DSR-570WS cameras sent to me so we would have DV Cam tape to send or can digitize as needed. If we are busy we can rent a camera in LA. If we are serious about production quality we need a good sound person with field mixing capabilities and a few options for mics, not sure I can get our kit from the office. A guerilla lighting pack would be nice if we are shooting inside. October may be too quick a turnaround to line everything up but we can try.

Graydon, That's great. I work with a couple of radio lapel mic's, a sony and a sennheiser. I do capture some pretty grubby sound from time to time but it's usually ok. My son Sam is an Audio post guy working at a top pro level but he's always so busy that I end up doing it myself. If I had a decent compressor/limiter it would make it easier.
It would be nice to get the blessings of his Family before we proceed further. Any connections? Cheers Lindsay |

Our big convention is at the end of October in Anaheim. Many of the Naka people would already be there. It's Oct 31st - Nov 4th. Most people would be coming Nov 1st - 4th. There would be at least 10 or 15 Naka students in attendence. I can get the information on family contacts and get their blessing first.
Could you stretch your time that far, Graydon? I'll have the list of names and contact numbers (I'm the registrar of the convention ) Joanie |

By then I will be gainfully unemployed... er.... retired... er... on a sabbatical. Let me see what a real calendar looks like. I think that would be a great plan.

Thanks Mike. Episode 18 of WOB is now online at www.bonsaifarm.tv.
With Regards the John Naka doco idea, I understand that one has been made for Californian television. Has anyone seen it or does anyone have a copy? Cheers Lindsay |

Naka doco
Mike salas in La sent me this info about the recently made John Naka piece for Californian community TV.
"remember they started filming about 3 months ago It was released about two months ago. At the local Los Angeles Channel or channel 36 For local residents. It was very good and very short. It featured Masters from all around Southern California the documentary was funded by usc or The University of Southern California." Seems like someone has done it well already. I've contacted the producer and I'm trying to get a copy. cheers Lindsay |
