Possible Japanese White Beech problem
Hi,
I bought a Japanese Beech a couple of months back, and all the buds that were on the tree have opend as normal. The rate of growth seems steady, but very slow. What is concerning me is that new secondary leaves are opening yellow instead of light green. After a while, they do turn darker, but still much lighter than the other leaves. I don't have any experience with beeches, but I wonder if I'm overfeeding it? I'm using a general pupose chemical fertilizer that lasts for a few months. I don't have the package, but from memory, I think it was something like 10-12-14.
Another problem is that one part of a branch never had buds on it, and of course, it stayed bare. In the last few weeks smaller buds have developed, but only tiny leaves have developed. I've done some research and I understand that this is a common problem with beeches. the beech is still wired, and I was wondering if this is the cause of the problem? or if you think its someting else?
99% of the tree looks in very good health and I don't know if I even have a problem, but If I do, I want to nip it in the bud before things get serious, so any advice would be much appreciated.
Best wishes
Stephen
