Question Positive ID Please

Here's a couple of pics of an unknown (to me anyway) tree...well the leaves.
I tried to get several cuttings to root with no success. I luckily found a seedling.

Any help will be grately appreciated.

I'm drawing a blank just looking at the leaves, an ilex maybe? Could you possibly post a pic of the parent tree you were trying take cuttings off of, something that would show bark, habit, flowers, seeds? any and all of those things would definitely help in trying to identify it for you.

Ilex sounds good, but it may be an oak. A full shot of the tree might help.

Perhaps a beech.
Is the bark smooth?

My guess, given location and general leaf shape, is also some kind of holly species, possibly a Possum Haw or Yaupon holly.

The bark is smooth, greyish...
About 20 ft tall.

I will try to post a pic of the bark and the whole tree later today.

Thank you.

Ilex latifolia

lusterleaf holly

What do you think?
