POMEGRANETE...A mystery to be solved!
Ok, I have had an issue with my pomegranete for almost 3 months now. It all began when I left the tree outside to endure a dormant period. When all the leaves were off ans temps started dipping below 40F I brought it inside where it remained the rest of the winter...about 2 months.
Since then it has appeared to try and leaf out only to fail and remain ultra small in leaf size. We are talking less than a cm. I have waited patiently and have now placed it outside where the temps are warm and spring is here. All my trees have leaves now except my pom. I don't get it! I did a scratch test and it is very alove and green. I don't think it can be in shock this long. i don't get how it is alive and yet won't push new growth after all this time. Any ideas?

Sometimes they are just slow. Be patient. Poms can be very late to get their leaves fully. And sometimes the leaves are twisty when they first come out.

Yep..i repotted it about a month ago when it was indoors. The roots looked fine. It is trying to push new leaves, but they just are not coming out. And that's only one or two leaves, not all over the tree. ven if it starts to grow normally again, i sure would like to know 2 things...what in the world did I do wrong, and when are Poms suppose to bud in nature?

The tree almost certainly has no idea what season it is due to some very confusing temperature and lighting queues. It may take some months to recover, and there isn't much you can do in the meantime. I would avoid "messing with it." and just keep it outside with enough water to keep the soil cycling between evenly moist and moderately dry. It won't be using a great deal of water until it does re-foliate.
Regards, Matt
