Pines And Spruces
I've read in a book that these have to be kept outside. Is this true?
A nice pine or spruce would look really good in my livingroom.

Yes. Great for a day or two as Conversation piece, but they need to be outside in full sun.

These are definitely outside only, and will only look good in your living room until their needles turn brown and start to drop. Actually, all bonsai would prefer to be outside year round, assuming they are hardy enough for a given climate. Don't forget, every tree species, including tropicals, grows outside year round in the places where they are found naturally.
