A permanent memorial ?
With yesterday's sad news of Bart Thomas passing, and the loss of Heymikey last year, I got to thinking that it would be nice to show our heartfelt appreciation for their contributions of experience and advise to this forum, by having a permanent section/forum somewhere on Bonsaitalk, with maybe photos and an epitaph.
I'd very much like to hear peoples thoughts and ideas on this and others, and if something of this nature would be possible. All the best, Aaron

That sounds like a great idea....perhaps with a favorite quote, tree or virtual?

Aaron,
That sounds like a very nice idea... but we will need to run it by Matt and see what can be done. Also on where exactly, we could put such a feature. Maybe a "In Memorium" section under the Gallery? More thought required Regards, Ian. |

Bonsai creations are good..... but there's always a human hand, imagination, and love behind these little "wonders".
Many of the trees will still remain on this world after their creators have long gone, so why not remember them as well? Especially if they are people that we have shared our thoughts and worries about many things! I'm 100% behind you on this guys! (If it's possible that is.) Fanis

I think it is a great idea, and would be a grand gesture, toward lifting up the standard to which we live our lives, in bonsai, and in relation to each other.
I am very much a proponent of this idea, and if there is any way that I can help, perhaps with graphics, ,or in any other way, I would be happy, no, honoured, to. Thanks for the Idea and the sentiment Aaron, you are a good man.

Perhaps if a photo of the person with their favourite tree or a tree could be found, this could be used as the first post and then those who were close to the person could post their memories? How about a section called "Fond Memories" or something along those lines?

All,
Unbeknown to me and just to give us all an idea of how vast this site is now.... Matt has been filing away such a thing in the Students of Bonsai Forum. That seems an appropriate place to leave our thoughts on any close contacts we have in this "on-line" world. Maybe in time, this will be enhanced with some of the features mentioned. Best Regards, Ian. |
