Exclamation Overgrown Eugenia Penjing

Another rescue planting I took to Chase Rosade for counsel on.

This is an Eugenia (Brush Cherry??) three tree forest penjing that had a gorgeous canopy which, unfortunately had shaded almost all of the lower limbs to the extent that they died off. (Now we know why we have to keep pruning those crowns!)

Here are before and after photos. Most of the pruning was back to the first pair of leaves. Clearly we expect a lot of budding!

I will repot on Wednesday.

What a transformation. I love the new look. The only thing that I could do without is the long straight sections after the nice wonderful curves.

Yeah! We're kinda stuck with those, but I can pray for some back budding which can develop into limbs to help mask that.

If we get the right budding, there will be some more major pruning!

Thanks.

Repotted. Rock placement?

(Reposted - originally posted Wednesday night.)

Here are before and after photos of the penjing.

The rock placement has been changed. (They don't stay in worth a d*nm when you turn the planting upside down.)

Which do you prefer? Why?

Thanks in advance.

I like #21745 (the first one), because the rocks don't look so hidden by the pebbles/soil. I think the right rocks add a lot to the overall, so why hide them

But, then, I'm still incredibly new, so take that for what it's worth!
